Heal the Bay is an environmental nonprofit dedicated to making the coastal waters and watersheds of Greater Los Angeles safe, healthy and clean. To fulfill our mission, we use science, education, community action, and advocacy.
Heal the Bay is powered by 100% renewable energy via the Clean Power Alliance community choice provider. All 27 Dell LCD monitors, six printers, and two copiers are Energy Star rated. To achieve the certification criteria, they purchased a new Energy Star® refrigerator, and had the building manager install 3 occupancy sensors in their restrooms and hallway entrance. They also use smart thermostat to control heating and air conditioning – set at 78°F for cooling and 68°F for heating.
Heal the Bay supporters can now shop with a purpose! Heal the Bay has partnered with select brands to showcase custom creations and products that give back in a big way. To reduce the carbon emissions associated with packaging and delivering the products, Heal the Bay offers a free pick up option from their office – in addition they reuse all boxes packing materials for shipping out products.
Heal the Bay stocks reusable food ware in their staff kitchen. All office and janitorial paper products contain 30% - 100% post-consumer content waste. Heal the Bay has a non-toxic office policy: triclosan-free cleaning chemicals are used facility wide to ensure healthy indoor air for employees. They use a hydrogen peroxide based sanitizer for high touch surfaces, dish liquid from Seventh Generation (a Certified BCorporation) and other green cleaners facility wide.
