HGA is a national interdisciplinary design firm rooted in architecture and engineering.  Over 1,000 employees in 12 offices throughout the US work to make a positive, lasting impact for clients in healthcare, arts and culture, community, corporate, education, government, science and technology, and energy markets.

Firmwide, HGA’s holistic approach to designing and building award-winning healthier spaces for all, integrates sustainability into every step of the design process. They are a signatory to multiple sustainability commitments including AIA 2030, AIA Materials Pledge, SE 2050, and the Interior Design Pledge for Positive Impact.  HGA aims to prioritize materials and product selections that support the 1) health of people 2) the ecosystem 3) climate 4) equity and 5) a circular economy.  They require their suppliers to meet at least one of these five criteria.

To support their in-house zero-waste program, in the Santa Monica office, clearly labeled composting and recycling bins were added and are maintained by trained staff.  HGA provides all employees with filtered drinking water and non-plastic beverage choices to minimize disposable bottle use.  The office implements a plastic-free office initiative by offering reusable dishware, and utensils for staff and guests.

HGA stocks unbleached paper janitorial products such as paper towels, facial and toilet tissues, made from post-consumer content waste. HGA solely procures non-toxic and green cleaning products certified by EPA Safer Choice and Green Seal.

To reduce carbon emissions resulting from fossil fueled car commutes, HGA Santa Monica installed four EV Chargers for guest and staff use and encourages walking, biking, or using public transport to get to work.  To support clean energy, HGA purchases 100% renewable power from the California Clean Power Alliance.

HGA participates in the annual WeCare Boys and Girls Club holiday event helping children create gifts for family members.
